Anyone knows a research about rote learning method?

Does anyone here know any sites or useful books or researches about rote learning method? I am going to apply the method to classroom in comparison with other techniques to show that rote learning is nothing or the thing we should neglect.

Keyword method is such a good mnemonic for students to remember words. It is related to two links which are acoustic link and imagery link.
