Re: Sentence Mistake

Hey
I'm not a teacher so maybe someone could confirm this answer, or you could research who/whom as well as the 2nd conditional and see if I'm right ;)

1. For whom did you send this mail?
2. If I were your sister, I'd break up with Matheus as soon as possible.

take care

1 more quick 2nd conditional question

In this sentence:
If the world WAS going to end tomorrow, would you be afraid?
Everything I read tells me it must be "were" but it sounds awkward to me.
Is there any leeway here or do I just suck it up and accept it has to be "were".
Big Thanks
G

Re: 2nd conditional tense semantics :D

yes thanks, I guess I was using the quotes with "that" to justify using love in the present tense. Maybe the only truly correct way to express the meaning I want is to change'told' to 'said' - If I said "I love you" would you say that you are mine. Because these are lyrics to a song the original "if...

2nd conditional tense semantics :D

Hey Everybody, Is it grammatically ok to say - 1. If I told you that "I love you", would you say that you are mine? If so must I have the quotation marks around " I love you"? or must I lose the "that"- 2. If I told you " I love you", would you say that you are mine? And if using "that" - 3. If I to...

is or are?

I'm writing a song and I want to include this line - "A few dollars is hardly any, a few lies are way too many". This reads naturally to me as I'm inferring the word money ie - "A few dollars is hardly any (money), a few lies are way too many". Because the listener or reader can't know I'm inferring...

In the future, let's make today the day we made the world a better place.
The day we sang in celebration. The day the wind blew in a new direction.

Up - particle or part of a prepositional phrase

Hi everyone In the following sentence - You lift me up amongst the Gods. Could it be argued that "up" is part of a prepositional phrase "up amongst" and not a particle to the verb lift. If I reverse the sentence to say - Up amongst the Gods you lift me. It still makes sense (Although sounds like Yod...
