Hi
Can you please help me with the verb tense for the second clause in this sentence?
The men had worked on a fishing trawler off of Cape York between April and October 2013, with the photos being taken on Hicks Island.
I understand it is a passive clause however I'm not sure what verb tense it is as it doesn't fit the usual structure when 'being' is used. ie. present/past progressive uses: is, are, was, were
Thanks
Craig

Have you tried converting it to active?
...with the men taking the photos on Hicks Island.

In my humble opinion, the example Craig gave is correct. If he changes the second part to active according to your suggestion, it will be like this:
"The men had worked on a fishing trawler off of Cape York between April and October 2013, with the men taking the photos on Hicks Island."
The repetition of "the men" is ... weird . What do you say?

I say that the stylistic purity of the sentence is not the issue.Syl wrote:Hi, JosefJosef wrote:Have you tried converting it to active?

In the sentence of Craig the second clause must keep its verb tense
