Can anyone give me a little prepositonal help?

Unread post by TutorT »

In the following sentences -
I am up against the odds.
I am up against the wall.
Does the word "up"form part of a prepositional phrase - up against? Or is "against" the only preposition in the sentence?
thanks heaps

"to be up against" is a compound phrasal verb (verb + preposition + preposition)

See the free, online Grammar Guide in the ICALwiki for more.
