Teach adults

Hi

My name is Camila and I'm Brasilian. I' m a English student and I've been invited to give class. My teachers told me that I can, but I have some fears, cause I have just 19 years old and the class has 3 adults.
I would like some tips about how deal with them, like what can I do, what I can't to do.
My future students will start from the zero, they don't know nothing about English.

Don't worry! Your students will always know a lot less than you do! Work with a course book it makes you feel more confident.

Hello Camila!
I am Brazilian too. ( : I agree with Laurie, definetly use a coursebook!
Things that help:
- have a careful plan of the semester. Dates of class and subject that will be given. Dates of tests.
- Always assign homework, even if they don't do it.

Things you can't do:
- show them insecurity (I started teaching when I was 18 and students didn't trust my work in the beginning)

Hi , i agree with what my colleagues have advised and i can add that you have
to know in advance what they are behind? Why they want to learn English? This
will help you to give interesting lessons.Good luck, bye

They are learning because they want to get good jobs, and speak English is a necessary thing here in Brazil.

I am a little bit issecure now!

I was liking to teach, but I have some doubts now, my class did the first test last Saturday, and some of them (the ones with more dificult) didn't get good grades....

Trust urself my little friend and don't worry about adults! I experienced sth like urs, at the beginning i felt the same feelings with u. i was 20 but i had lots of students older than me. Even 2 of them were retired. I observed the fact that they r coming to the class by bearing in their mind that u r the authority, and this lets u be more confident.
