UK-based Trinity College London is a non-profit-making organization offering a range of qualifications from initial to advanced level for prospective and practising teachers who speak English as a first, second or foreign language. Trinity uses the acronym TESOL to denote the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Trinity qualifications include the following, both of which are accepted as TESOL qualifications by employers worldwide including the British Council.
The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages is Trinity's first level of qualification. Courses last for at least 130 hours and may be four weeks full-time (the shortest length) or anything up to a year part-time. The course includes various written assignments and a minimum of six hours' teaching practice.
The Licentiate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages is a significantly higher qualification than the CertTESOL. Teachers with this qualification are eligible for senior teaching and management responsibilities.
