Hi everyone!
Correct me if I am wrong - but I think that making our students aware of collocation usage is a crucial point in vocabulary teaching.
I have been trying to do so for years now as I think that by doing that, my students will achieve a near nativelike level of English. As we all know, up to 70% of the English language is based on collocational patterns, so exposing my students to more authentic, relevant materials - and, of course practice - will enable them to become more fluent/competent speakers of English.
But my main questions are:
- What would the significance of collocational knowledge for learners be in your opinions?
- How do you support your learners´acquisition of appropriate knowledge?
I am very much looking forward to hearing your suggestions on that! Thank you all!
