Water is an important for our lives.
As water is uncountable noun, we can't use a or an.
so why 'AN' before important.
Please explain it.

There is a problem with the sentence you quote. It is not English. Something is missing. It should be (something like):hanuman_2000 wrote:Water is an important for our lives.

Water is an important resource for our lives.
In this case an refers to resource, which is countable. If the adjective important is removed, it becomes:
Water is a resource for our lives.
