Specifically, I'm interested in "systems are sharpened to do". But, if there are more that I need to correct, please, respond it.But, what's more important, the goal of any research in robotics is to improve the quality of people's lives by pushing the limits of what we can do, and this is exactly what underactuated systems are sharpened to do.
