What does the expression catch something on the fly mean?

Hi,
It means you'll do something while travelling.
I don't have time to sit down for breakfast, so I usually eat a sandwich on the fly.
It can often mean done hurriedly and without preparation.
If you make serious decisions on the fly, expect some failures along the way.

This can also mean that information (usually) has been found out by chance or by deceptive methods
