Don't understand, help wanted.

Hello,

I've got the film Yellow Submarine from the Beatles an my computer. I've found it somewhere to download, I think it was at video.google.co.uk.

Ok my fist looking the film it had be hard to follow the dialogues, and so I've looked for the screenplay and bingo - I've found it.

After that, I've looked the film again, step by step and always followed the words written in the screenplay, and now I'm going a little bit deeper to find out the phrases, which aren't clear to me.

At the moment I stuck at a phrase from the song Eleanor Rigby.

It's a song about the living of lonely poor old people, and the phrase I stuck is:

Eleanor Rigby,
Picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been,

lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door.

The last sentence isn't clear to me.

What does it mean: '...wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door.'?

I've looked for the words wearing, face and jar, but I could not understand this.

hi mike - i always took that line to mean 'the face that the old woman puts on when
going out - the 'face' being cosmetics applied from a jar'.

But wasen't that translation a little bit tricky more just like a interpretation?

Aehm... one more question, how does that work with the smilies?

When I drag an drop a smilie from the lefthand stag into my text than it doesn't look like a smilie, it looks like a webadress. Which mistake am I doing?
