Fun & Funny

Post by McKinney »

Hi, why can I say "very funny" but not "very fun" and "real fun" but not "real funny"? What choices do I have to emphasise "fun" and "funny"?

Thanks!

Although often treated colloquially as an adjective, 'fun' is a noun, and so can be modifed by an adjective, e.g. 'great fun'.
