Although I love the British accent, sometimes it's hard for me to understand. I am used to American English.

:) Hi! British and American English are both fine.
The difference is just in the accent. And the manner they express themselves. (this is my assessment) American English is very casual and British English is very modest. They are both worth learning to. Fascinating, isn't it.

Actually, I only write in English...and speak in my mind, don't even pronounce what I'm writing.:) because there's no one around here to talk in English.

As to accent, I think that AmEn is hard to understand to me.

I don´t have any preferences regarading which accent I like most. To me, it´s easier to understand American accent because I've been hearing since I was 14, considering that the cable company that I´ve got broadcast many, many american T.V programs. Also, almost all English courses that we can take here are designed by americans, and almost all the teachers we have go to america to brush up their English. To sum up, I'm more exposed to hear american than english accent.

However, I think that the barrier of accent can be knocked down if you're talking to a well educated person. No matter if you're having a conversation with an english or an american guy, If they have some education level, you won't have any problem to understand them.

i don't take any dislike at both of british and american accent, but i'd prefer to American one, because it's freer, sounding not too hard for me and also it's easier for me to say it !

As an accent British one is harder. That's why i prefer American English.Actually some people don't know what is American or British English is.Some of us pronounce British English words like we do in American English. I also do it!
However, i think i am better in understanding British accent...

Just like me! And I prefer British English, too. For me AmEn is slapdash and messy. It's a suffering for me to hear Mr President of US...

Being a native American English speaker, I think they are equally challenging. If I were to go to England, I would have a very difficult time picking up on their slang and all my friends from certain parts of Britain have trouble understanding what I say sometimes.

It just depends on what sounds your native language has in common.

President Bush uses correct grammar in all of his speeches. I listen to all politicians to see if they can use English correctly.

Just because he has a southern accent doesn't make his English any less correct.

The only reason I'm calling you out on this is because people assume that I'm stupid and uneducated simply because I have a southern accent. This is certainly not the case and certain dialects of British English can be very "slapdash and messy".

British English is just different because unless someone is actually from Britain, I doubt they could differentiate.
