About listening to BBC Radio over the Internet

Post by wllsp »

This topic is in the FAQ but to my shame I didn't read it. I found it accidentally. It is great to listen to good English just sitting in front of the computer.

I used to do it regulary but I've also mentioned it many times - I simply can't stand the policy it claims towards our country. When the military parade on the 9th of May is called "sabre rattling" I get sore face. So now on - just discussing literature and sport.

It's quite understandable. Although sometimes I find it interesting to compare completely different opinions of Russian journalists and foreign ones about the same event. For example about the one you mentioned.

BBC 5 is one of my favourite online radio stations now. I think it is much better from the point of learning English comparing to BBC News. There are a lot of talks on day-to-day situations. A lot of ordinary people calling the radio station and talking to presenters.

No problem, listen to BBC 4. It's not concerned with politics.

Waaa, I LOVE BBC 5! Anyway, I got a question guys just to make sure I'm on the right track. I listen to it on a daily basis and I can pick up all the words now. Though, I can't still "follow" them. This seems to be a listening skill problem. So should I just keep listening everyday to improve it?
Pls correct any errors you see on my writings on: nouns, tenses :)

I think listening to BBC or NPR is a great way to get experience with the English language. I also recommend to my students this website that has great English speakers and a variety of topics: http://www.ted.com/. Check it out and let me know what you think.
