1) If we are driving a car or riding a motorcycle and someone wants to take us over so do we say that "we give some room for them to pass by us"?
2) If we are standing between a narrow path and another person wants to pass but we are standing in there way so do we say "we give some room to them to pass us by"?
Please check both of these scenarios and Please correct my mistakes.

Simply 'to pass' would be sufficient in either case.
