Recently I've got this question in my English exam:
The doctors didn't think it .........that
she would ever heal completely.
Choices were :
a) obviously
b) apparently
c) probably
d) likely
Can anyone please tell me which one is correct and why?and is this question even grammatically correct?
Need help ASAP!

The answer is d) likely.
An adjective is needed and all the other choices are adverbs.

Re: Need help ASAP!
Just to add to that, the adjective form 'probable' would be fine, but as Joe pointed out, ''probably' is an adverb and the sentence would be:
'The doctors thought that she would probably never heal properly.'
'The doctors thought that she would probably never heal properly.'

C) probably is not possible
It could be probable, but that is not one of the four options
