Some help please with this sentence since I'm not 100% sure if the double 'on on' is correct. If any other errors, please let me know too
In the last few days there have been terrible earthquakes going on on the Gili islands.

It's a bit cumbersome but it's not grammatically wrong. The (phrasal) verb is "go on". It is followed by the preposition "on".
It could be rewritten as (for example):
Over the last few days on the Gili islands there have been terrible earthquakes going on.
It could be rewritten as (for example):
Over the last few days on the Gili islands there have been terrible earthquakes going on.
