Hey! I need help. I'm not entirely sure which forum I should use.
My first thought when I woke up this morning was that I would see my friends.
Or
Should it be I was going to see my friends?

My first thought when I woke up this morning was that I was going to see my friends.
?
If so, the answer is that both are possible and grammatically correct, with "was going to" being perhaps a bit more idiomatic (depending on your very precise context).
The word "would" might work better in a sentence such as:
My first hope when I woke up this morning was that I would see my friends.
