Hello. Could you explain what is the difference between these two expressions?

1. What if we hadn't been able to find ...
2. What if we hadn't had been able to find ...

That's easy. The difference is that 1 is English and 2 is not English.

Please check your sentence 2. Are you sure that's what you meant to ask?
