Difference the form of verb makes

Post by anytaali »

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if these two sentences have different meaning. I believe they both are grammatically correct and convey the same message.

He knew he was no longer expected to come up with a pithy comment or any sharp question. Those days had long since passed, and the exchange between the two men seemed like a ritual attaching to a mystery which no-one in the whole world had the interest to unravel.

but please let me know if I am wrong???

The first is not English.
The second is English.
